On a warm sunny Saturday afternoon in May members of 7run3 decided to spread their tail feathers and formed a relay team for the Bayou Bash Relay appropriately named "It's Just a Peacock."
Fresh off an early Saturday run and looming red-nosed wine party plans the team was out for a good time but at the same time the competitive spirit was strong among them.
The Bayou Bash Relay is a 4 person relay of approximately 2.2 miles long and coincides with the HARRA end of spring celebration party which immediately follows. Teams can be formed in variety of combinations of gender and age groups designations.
The 7run3 contingent was entered in the Open Female category and it's members were:
- Vikki Webster
- Ashley Gray
- Maria Sylte
- Erika Dawkins
True to their name they all had impressive splits with Vikki leading things off with a 6:19 paced 13:51. Vikki handed the baton off to Ashley who ran a strong 6:48 pace. Maria got the baton next as the team continued to move up the ranks clocking in at 6:55 pace. Unsure of where the team was because of the unique format of the event Erika threw down a strong anchor leg to lead the team home in 6:23 pace.
The team's final time was 58:04 for a combined 8.8 miles at 6:36 pace.
Congratulations Ladies!
